Muhr is Back!

If you take a look at my last.fm account (you're invited to become a friend to, by the way!), it'll be very apparent to you that I'm a big fan of the Canadian artist Vincent Fugère. He's not only producing the most wonderful music you'll find on the web, he's also a brilliant video and graphic artist, and photographer. Like so many other musicians these days, he recently discovered Bandcamp as the platform of his choice for presenting his music under the well-known moniker of Muhr, which brought us the re-release of his 2007 EP The Forever Tunnels as well as a selection of some of his best tracks he released on various fine netlabels during the last couple of years. If you aren't too familiar with Vincent's former work, this might be the right place for you to start; you'll get 59 minutes of excellent music in 12 wonderful tracks.

The sparkling diamond for all fans of Muhr is his latest EP Her Fall Themes, which features 7 awesome tracks recorded in Autumn of 2009. While exploring the symphonic side of his musical soul, this latest work of Vincent might also be the most approachable in his impressive portfolio. Which doesn't mean this is all about "easy-listiening": Quite contrary to Ambient and IDM recordings from the "production lines" of computer generated music, "Her Fall Themes" doesn't shy away from deep soundscapes and textures, yet being still open enough to invite its listener to explore what's inside by webbing its charming piano melodies around him. While Muhr might have composed these wonderful 7 tracks with the melancholic season of fall in his mind, they also make a fine soundtrack to those endless light and warm summer's days and nights we're deeply, madly in love with right now - just stream or download A Willow, and you'll know what I'm enthusing over.
